Master of Gomoku presents players with a strategic board game in which the objective is to align five stones of the same color before the opponent. In Gomoku, players commence the game with the darker stones and take turns positioning their respective colored stones on vacant intersections. Victory is claimed by the first player to form an unbroken chain of five stones either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

While the roots of Gomoku can be traced back to China, the term "Gomoku" itself originates from the Japanese language. The game is also recognized by alternative names such as Gobang, Omok, and Five In A Row.
